Frances is helpful to me in my recovery because she makes me feel safe to download information with her.

This in turn makes me feel like I’m not alone, but also helps me to work through the issues that sometimes feel to unbearable to deal with being sober. I know I have options after talking to her and devising plans to stay clean for another week.

My life has improved because I was given room with Frances to become vulnerable. I have been able to not just focus on my challenges but celebrate my successes as well. I have had to take a look at some not so pretty parts of my life but have been able to gain some acceptance and move forward.

I admire and respect Frances’ soft nature. I get a true feeling of empathy and understanding. Up until now I never trusted a counselor with any of my life details. I feared judgment and was scared to tell the absolute truth of who I was or thought I was. Even in the beginning I was like that with Frances but she helped me knock down the walls of disbelief and fear I had around seeking help.

I would absolutely recommend Frances to anyone seeking counseling. I believe she is really committed at what she does and is invested in people being able to shift, change and grow in recovery and in every aspect of their life if they are willing to put the work in. ”

“The word that comes to mind when I reflect on my time with Frances is ‘perspective’. Not only was Frances able to hear my experience from an open-minded and wise perspective, but she was also able to offer me a new perspective, or viewing point, from which to see my life, my choices and my relationships. I truly believe that I’m a more compassionate woman today thanks to my work with Frances.”

Sometimes you just need someone just to talk and to help guide you. Just take the step and contact someone that can help.

In my 30 year career as a medical doctor, I have seen the best addiction teachers and counselors have three things in common. First, they have been in a hole. Second they found their way out of that hole. Third they have the empathy and wisdom to show that way to others. Frances Stone is one of those teachers and counselors. _Russell Kennedy, MD

"Such a wonderful strong woman who walks the journey of recovery everyday and inspires others to do the same. As a parent of an adult who is struggling with a substance disorder, Frances is such an inspiration."

“Frances counseled me weekly for about five months. She helped give me a realistic perspective, set goals and make sense of emotions in situations I was struggling with regarding my sobriety. She is approachable, knowledgeable and professional. She was particularly helpful in helping me navigate the ending of a long-term relationship and doing what was best for our child.”

We first met Frances since 2018 while our son was at a local recovery center. His first treatment center after he disclosed to us that he was a drug addict.

Surely drug addicts are the people who live in the Downtown East side, sleeping in doorways and parks. How could we, as a regular North Shore family have a son who uses drugs?

Our son was asked to leave his treatment centre just before his 90 day treatment was completed. It began to sink in that this disease affects the whole family and is lifelong.

Frances has lived experiences and a counselling education to support us on this journey, offering wisdom and knowledge to us as parents. We are eternally grateful and would not have come this far living with the disease of addiction without her.

She continues to support our son with one on one counselling. We trust Frances implicitly to counsel, encourage and confront our son to manage his very precious life.

Thanks to Frances, I am now able to live a happy, productive and independent life. I continuing to love my son without being obsessed with thoughts of what he is doing or where he is. I can now support his recovery without enabling.

This Christmas I was able to offer Christmas gifts to a single mother through her Mother’s Recovery Society. A nonprofit organization founded in 2018 with the mission to engage, educate and empower mothers to decrease intergenerational trauma, develop recovery capital and support recovery. They provide access to community, services, programs and leadership opportunities to empower mothers in recovery from addiction and mental health. Frances is the board president, truly altruistic.

Sincerely, Dawn T.

One of the most amazing woman I know. I can trust her. Naturally when with her open up about things u don't usually and has the best advice that helps changes my prospective on things which helps me make better choices. Highly recommended! - Denise A.

I met Frances Stone through Mother’s Recovery Society, since then I’ve attended multiple group sessions with her that have supported my recovery. Frances is compassionate and empowering, and continues to aid me in my recovery journey. Her lived experience with addiction, recovery and mental health gives her an ability to relate that I had not received in my own recovery path. I was able to open up, be honest and create a meaningful connection with Frances due to her caring and compassionate character. I look forward to continue to work with her on my recovery.
